Blooms…
The crocuses have emerged, and the daffodils will soon be in full bloom, with the peak display occurring in mid-March to mid-April. Newport celebrates the arrival of over 1 million daffodils with the annual month-long celebration called Daffodil Days.
The town will soon be decked out in all things yellow and daffodils, including window displays, parades, and fields of blooms. You don’t want to miss the grand re-awakening of 1,450,000 daffodils this month.

Beers…
Saturday, April 19th the Newport Beer Festival returns to Fort Adams State Park with 50 breweries offering more than 150 selections of beer. This year’s festival is sponsored by Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling.
Just for fun we thought we would share how beer got its name.
The word “beer” likely stems from the Latin word “bibere”, meaning “to drink”, though there are other theories linking it to Proto-Germanic words for “barley” or “brewer’s yeast”.
The two primary types of beer are ales and lagers. The term “ale” comes from the Proto-Germanic “aluth”, meaning beer, and “lagers” derives its name from the German “Lager,” meaning “storehouse”. Fun fact: until the early 15th century, the term “ale” was used to refer to beer of any sort.
Bright Lights…

Balconies…
Amendments are coming to the Newport zoning code as it relates to balconies and decks. The drive behind these new restrictions is to limit second and third floor ‘party decks’ and to prohibit roof decks above third floors of any residential property. Safety and privacy are key components as well. Curious if you may be impacted or perhaps grandfathered in with existing structures, check out this article from Newport This Week.
