There is a clarity about September. The sun seems brighter, the sky bluer, the white clouds take on marvelous shapes, the moon is a rising gold apparition, and the stars sparkle through the lengthening nights. Bask in the glory of what has always been my favorite month of the year and take in some wonderful pre-fall events.

Fire Safety

Fire safety at home is extremely important to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property. Here are some essential fire safety tips for the home:

1. Install smoke detectors on every level of your home, especially near bedrooms, and test them monthly to ensure they are working properly.

2. Create a fire escape plan and practice it with your family members regularly. Make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room.

3. Keep flammable items, such as curtains, kitchen towels, and paper, away from heaters and stoves.

4. Never leave cooking food unattended, and keep flammable items away from the stovetop.

5. Avoid overloading electrical outlets and use caution with electrical appliances, cords, and space heaters.

6. Keep a fire extinguisher in an easily accessible location and learn how to use it. Make sure to check the expiration date.

7. Regularly maintain and inspect heating systems, chimneys, and fireplaces.

8. In case of fire, get out, stay out, and call for help. Never go back into a burning building for any reason.

By following these fire safety tips, you can help prevent fires and keep your home and family safe. Click Here for a fire safety brochure.
